The 25-year-old Brazilian defence joined Albion from RB Leipzig three years ago on an Array9 million pound contract.
But he lined up with Graham Potter, whom Solly March and Dan Burn were the left-back.
Potter’s boss said: “Bernardo is at a level in his career where he plays football regularly.
“This resolution gives you the opportunity to do so.
“We wish you for the rest of the season and we will stay in your progress with interest. “
Bernardo scored two goals in 26 appearances per season at Red Bull Salzburg in 2016 before joining his German club partner in Leipzig.
Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund said: “The wonderful opportunity to locate #Bernardo suddenly opened for us. He’s a very flexible defensive player and will help us right away.
“With his experience beyond, Bernardo will have no difficulty becoming in our club or adapting to the football we play. “
Bernardo made his 50th at Seagulls last week in a 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
This fourth has played seven times, starting five, adding 3 in the Premier League.
In the Carabao Cup, the Sao Paulo star scored once and helped two in portsmouth and Preston victories.
Brighton loaned Jayson Molumby to Preston and Viktor Gyokeres to Coventry earlier this month, while Warren O’Hora signed a permanent contract with MK Dons.
However, the South Coast club has connected right-back Tariq Lamptey with a new contract until the end of the 2024–25 season after their sublime form since their debut in June.
