Brighton prepares to see Boca Juniors prodigy KIDNAPPED transferred via European giants

JUVENTUS will beat Brighton for Boca Juniors left-back Valentin Barco.

Barco, 19, who also played for Man City, receives a fixed payment of around £9 million for his contract in Argentina.

However, the Seagulls presented a lower figure in an attempt to close a deal.

That has alerted Serie A giants Juventus that it could get ahead in the prodigy’s tail.

The teenager has earned praise for Boca, having played against Racing last week in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores.

He has already played 21 for the South American giants and has consolidated his position in the first team.

Barco’s performances also drew applause from vice president Juan Roman Riquelme, who was all about the player’s personality.

Riquelme said: “He’s a cheeky boy. We are here to accompany and take care of the children.

“For them it’s a dream to exercise every day with players like (Dario) Benedetto, (Marcos) Rojo, (Edinson) Cavani, (Sergio) Romero.

“You have to inform them from the elders because a lot is going to happen to them.

“Barco is a great player technically and we are very pleased to have him with us. “

Boca will be tasked with staying in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s answer to the Champions League, after drawing 0-0 at home to Racing in the first leg.

Barco, who reportedly said he was looking to win the festival with Boca before leaving, suffered a hip injury that forced him off the court.

Now he has doubts to get back in shape next Wednesday.
