Britain F1 GP: Perez expects new COVID-19 after inconclusive result

Racing Point’s driving force in Formula One, Sergio Perez, is awaiting a new COVID-19 check after an unfinished result before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Perez will attend the FIA press convention at Silverstone on Thursday afternoon, however, the team only performed through Lance Stroll.

He demonstrated through MC’s press convention that Perez was absent due to an “unfinished” control result for COVID-19, and that he isolated himself while awaiting the result of a moment check.

A Racing Point spokesman said a small number of team members are also isolating the property after contacting Perez.

“Czech is not on the circuit after an unfinished control result,” he confirmed.

“He self-aies it while he waits for the effects of a new test.

“Here Czech contacted a small organization of members.

“They isolate the seed and are back.

All paddock staff will have to go through a COVID-19 check at least every five days, as indicated through the FIA in their protocols for this season’s grand prix.

Racing Point is expected to call one of Mercedes’ backup drivers for the race weekend if Pérez tests positive for COVID-19, as part of an agreement with the team.

Chances are Esteban Gutierrez would make his first start in F1 since his last appearance with Haas at the end of the 2016 season if Perez was ruled.

Gutierrez shares Mercedes’ reserve role with mcLaren F1’s former driving force Stoffel Vandoorne, who has a more recent Grand Prix experience, making his best start at the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

But Vandoorne is expected to be at Silverstone this weekend as he prepares for the last six races of the Formula E season in Berlin, which will take up position in a nine-day era that begins next Wednesday.

A moment check for Perez is a component of FIA protocols when the entire paddock is checked for COVID-19, however, this is the first time that a driving force has had to re-verify.

F1 has reported the effects of more than 15,000 COVID-19 tests to date, of which two have tested positive.

Both occasions were recorded in Hungary two weeks ago, and neither in Austria in the first two rounds.
