Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes praised Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Odion Ighalo for the effect they had towards last season’s finale.
The Red Devils had an impressive unbeacent 19-game streak between January and mid-July and the winter finale, Fernandes is credited with raising his spirits at Old Trafford at the time of the campaign.
The Portuguese midfielder, who joined Sporting for a payment of 68 million pounds, has amassed 8 goals and seven assists at an exceptional start in his Premier League career and will no doubt look at those impressive figures next season.
But in a verbal exchange with United’s official website, Fernandes was quick to point out that he wasn’t the only one who changed the club’s fortunes last season.
“We have players on the bench who can do very well,” Fernandes said, in his early months in England.
“If you watch the last game, Juan came in and gave a lot of quality in our game, Jesse gave a lot of power in the last games he played, and he scored twice in the last 3 games.
“And we have Odion who can score, he can run, he’s a smart sprinter.
“I think Odion is the guy with the fourth number of goals for United last season and he signed with me in January.
“He doesn’t play every single game, but when he plays a mark, that’s why I think it’s vital to have players at the front that they can score.
“You can serve them in other tactics and they can score.”
Fernandes is pleased with United’s third premier league position last season, but insists that enthusiasts can expect and ‘deserve’ more in the coming years.
“The first game wasn’t because we tied against the Wolves,” he said when asked to qualify for his debut for the club.
“But of course, after that stop, we went into Marbella that week, which was vital for me to get to know my teammates better and get to know the game the coach needs to play.
“It is vital to perceive everyone a bit, how to serve certain players, how to play with other players, the most productive way to play for the team and also show my qualities for my teammates.
“I think after that we did a task because no one had any idea we would finish 3rd and get a place in the Champions League.
“I think it’s unbelievable. It’s not the most productive because Manchester deserved the most, but of course we’re happy with what we did and that’s a smart component of what we can do for next season.”
