Aves are on the verge of dropping out of the Primeira Liga in Portugal.
It’s been a horrible season for Aves in the Portuguese top-flight, as they’ve been cut adrift for the majority of the campaign.
After 33 games, Aves have only managed 17 points.
Aves’ poor performances on the pitch have coincided with a financial crisis at the club.
According to MaisFutebol, employees at Aves, including the players, haven’t been paid since March.
Aves captain Afonso Figueiredo, though, has revealed that Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira have both offered to help his side in their hour of need.
As quoted by Record, Figueiredo revealed:
Bruno Fernandes, in addition to being a great player on the pitch, still manages to be better man off it.
Also (thanks to) Ricardo Pereira, and several colleagues of mine… who have not been indifferent to what is happening here.
I want to thank you for your concern, and thanks for the thousands of messages of support that we’ve received.

Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira knows Aves captain Afonso Figueiredo from their days playing together in the Portugal U21 team.
Pereira recently posted a touching message of support to the Aves squad.

Like Ricardo Pereira, Bruno Fernandes knows Afonso Figueiredo from Portugal’s U21 setup.
MaisFutebol report that the players have “maintained a close friendship”.
Also, it’s claimed that the Man United midfielder called Afonso Figueiredo on Tuesday to offer his support. Maisfutebol report:
Bruno Fernandes has shown enormous interest in the situation of the entire squad and made himself available to everyone, to assist in any way that Afonso Figueiredo and his colleagues find most useful.
Will the Man United star offer financial assistance? That isn’t clearly stated in the article.
