Bury has been denied the opportunity to enroll in the non-league pyramid for next season, the Football Association announced.
The Shakers were expelled from the English Football League after the start of last season due to monetary insolvency, leaving Ligue 1 with 23 clubs.
A Phoenix club, Bury AFC, was accepted last month in the One North Division of the Northwest Counties League, while the original Bury FC, a member of the Football League since 1894, had been implemented to enroll in the National League system.
Bury Football Club denied the possibility of signing up for the football pyramid outside the league
An FA said: ‘The FA can verify that Bury FC’s application to enroll in the National League System [NLS] for the 2020-21 season has not been accepted.
The Alliance League Committee’s resolution not to comply with the offer was based on several other factors, including monetary resources, property, and the club’s insolvency status.
The FA has left the door open for the club to sign up for the long term if its monetary unrest is resolved, recognizing its “history and reputation.”
They added: ‘The Alliance League Committee would appreciate a request from the club to join the NLS for the 2021-22 season.’
