In July, BYU its bowling arrangements for the 2020-2026 football seasons. There are 3 other characteristics of the BYU bowl in 2021, if they are eligible for the bowl. Here are the 3 possibilities:
1. Six New Year’s Bowls
First, all bowl chords suck if BYU qualifies for an NY6 bowl set. Obviously, this is the situation for BYU.
2. Independence Bowl vs. Independence Bowl Conference USA
If BYU is eligible for the bowl in 2021 and qualifies for an NY6 bowl game, the Cougars will likely play at most in the Independence Bowl unlike an opponent of the US Conference. But it’s not the first time

The Cougars are expected to play in the Independence Bowl in 2021, 2023 and 2025.
3. Cheez-It Bowl vs. Big Ten or Big 12
“BYU can simply participate in the Cheez-It Bowl if its convention meetings (Big Ten and Big 12) cannot provide an opponent. If so, this option can be exercised in an Independence Bowl. “
