Cameroon’s Ekogo makes his debut in Zenit St. Petersburg’s first win

Tatiana Ekogo made a big impact in her first match when Zenit St. Petersburg earned its first win of the season with a 3-0 win over Chertanovo in a Russian Super League draw on Friday.

The Indomitable Lionesses star joined Zenit from Russian rivals Yenisey a week ago and played 20 minutes in his side’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Lokomotiv Moscow on Sunday.

After her great performance, the 23-year-old presented her first debut through coach Olga Poryadina and played a vital role in her team’s first win this campaign.

Building on their four-match winless streak, the hosts were unable to turn ownership into chances until Zarina Sharifova brilliantly helped Ekaterina Sochneva break the impasse in the 45th minute.

Before the half-time whistle blew, Elena Shesterneva to Nika Belova to double Zenit’s lead in added time.

12 minutes after the attack resumed, Nika Belova scored her brace to seal her first win of the season.

Ekogo, who was making his momentary appearance at Zenit, replaced through Tatiana Morina two minutes after the 3rd goal.

Friday’s win lifted Zenit one position to sixth in the standings of Russia’s most sensible thieves, with 4 problems in five games this season.

They will aim for a momentary rebound win when they face former team Ekogo Yenisey in their next meeting on August 25.
