Carlo Ancelotti reportedly thinks he can sign ‘extremely talented’ player for bargain price

According to The Mirror, Everton are interested in signing Diogo Dalot from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti thinks that he can sign the 21-year-old full-back for £10 million.

The Portugal Under-21 international joined United from FC Porto in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Mirror to be worth £19 million.

According to WhoScored, Dalot made one start and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for United this past season, and also played thrice in the Europa League.

Good signing for Everton?

Dalot – described as “an extremely talented young defender” by current Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho when he was in charge of United in June 2018 on the club’s official website – would be a brilliant and bargain signing for Everton for £10 million.

While Seamus Coleman is the first-choice right-back at Everton, the Republic of Ireland international is 31 years of age, and Ancelotti does need to find a young player who can learn from him and push him.

Dalot may have failed to make a huge impact at United so far, but the 21-year-old showed during his time at Porto what he is capable of.

With the Portuguese youngster also able to operate at left-back, he would give more options to manager Ancelotti.
