Girona’s Taty Castellanos has become the first player to score 4 goals in a LaLiga duel against Real Madrid this century with a surprise 4-2 victory over Carlo Ancelotti’s side, whose faint name hopes vanished on Tuesday.
With seven games to play, second-placed Real Madrid now has 11 Barcelona, who will face twelfth-placed Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.
Girona Real with their first goal in the 12th minute of play when an unmarked Castellanos headed from very close after a center by Miguel Gutiérrez.
Girona doubled their lead 12 minutes later when Castellanos held on to a long ball, fought inside the box and shot low under Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Castellanos scored his third goal in the 36th minute of the second half, sweeping the house with a half-volley with his right foot after La Real’s defense gave it up in the box.
The 24-year-old winger was left alone in the box and scored his fourth goal of the night, and 11th in La Liga this season, in the 62nd minute, before being substituted 10 minutes later.
Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez scored a comfort goal at point-blank range in the minute.
