It has been announced that Celtic FC Women will play two upcoming matches at Celtic Park, and the club has also confirmed a bonus for fans who were recently hit by a ticketing frenzy at Ibrox.
Elena Sadiku’s team will face Hearts and Hibs in Paradise on April 21 and May 19 starting with the championship race.
Celtic fans were first able to buy underwear for a SWPL derby at Ibrox in February, but Rangers controversially cancelled the entire away allocation at short notice.
Refunds have been issued, but Celtic have gone a step further by ensuring that those who had shown commitment to the women’s team have free access to Celtic Park for the upcoming home game against Hearts.
The club said: “For the first match in Paradise against Hearts (21 April), we are also very pleased to offer free access to those who bought a ticket for the Glasgow derby at Ibrox last month.
“We were obviously disappointed that Celtic players were denied access to this game and while we ensured that those players received a refund for this game, we also sought to further recognise the fantastic commitment of those players by welcoming them to Celtic Park to cheer on the Ghirls for free.
“Further information will be disseminated to affected supporters via email in due course. “
Last year, thousands of people attended the big end-of-season games as the Ghirls looked to win their first title, agonizingly lacking the final moments of the campaign.
The club and the team itself expect something similar this season.
Celtic are currently four opponents behind Rangers at the top of the SWPL, but it’s all still up for grabs with two derbies remaining, the first of which will take place this Sunday at the Excelsior Stadium.
Win that one and the enthusiasm for the name race will accelerate, especially with Paradise games on the horizon for enthusiasts to enjoy.
