Celtic Dermot Desmond offers a rare message to enthusiasts as he joins a glamorous night out through a Scottish rock band.

FOOTBALL legend Henrik Larsson and Scottish rockers Deacon Blue are extremely cheerful enthusiasts at a glamorous Celtic charity in New York City.

The Celtic FC Foundation hosted a dinner in Manhattan where Larsson and his coach Brendan Rodgers made an impression in front of about 350 guests.

Deacon Blue stars Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh, the hits “Dignity,” “Real Gone Kid” and “Chocolate Girl” for members of Celtic fan clubs in the Big Apple, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Dallas.

Basketball hero Larsson took part in a Q&A consultation where he reminisced about some of his fondest memories from his time in Glasgow.

The occasion raised around £280,000 ($355,000) and also saw the club’s leader, Dermot Desmond, tell his supporters that he hoped to bring more good fortune to Parkhead.

Former Celts Roy Aitken and George McCluskey joined the enthusiasts at the stellar fundraiser on Thursday night.

Michael Nicholson, Celtic’s chief executive and trustee of the Foundation, said: “Thank you to everyone present at this year’s New York Gala.

“Everyone who attended and supported tonight contributed to a Celtic night and the money raised will help the Celtic FC Foundation continue to help others in the U. S. USA, Glasgow and Ireland. “

Tony Hamilton, chief executive of the Celtic FC Foundation, said: “We wouldn’t do what we do without Celtic enthusiasts in New York or anywhere else.

“Finally, a big thank you to Dermot Desmond, Brendan Rodgers and Henrik Larsson and, of course, to all our partners. “

Gala Committee Chair Paul Geaney said: “This is another glorious gala at the Cipriani Centre and I am incredibly grateful to the Foundation team and my fellow committee members for their glorious efforts.

“The net total of $355,000 raised is exceptional and is due to the kindness and generosity of every individual and organization that played their part.
