Celtic fans have been told they will need to have their banners “pre-approved” for the Champions League clash against Lazio through the club.

The Hoops were fined €23,400 for lighting flares in the European Championship clash against Feyenoord in De Kuip before UEFA once again punished the Scottish Premiership champions for the use of pyrotechnics, as well as their “offensive” banner ahead of their eventual 2-1 defeat. The club was fined €3,500 for the fireworks and €20,000 for the banner unveiled through the Green Brigade.

The club has since banned the ultras organisation with its season tickets suspended, and Celtic’s fan liaison officer, John-Paul Taylor, has now shown that all flags and banners will need to be pre-approved ahead of the clash with the Serie A side in Rome. Writing to X, he said: “We have been informed that flags, banners and drums will have to be pre-approved before Tuesday’s match.

“Fans wishing to bring any of those pieces into the stadium send a symbol titled ‘Lazio Banner Request’ to jptaylor@celticfc. co. uk until 5 p. m. Thursday, please. “

The game is a must-see for Brendan Rodgers’ side as they look to continue their European adventure into the new year. So far they have lost 3 games at the organizational level and will recover from the 6-0 thrashing of Atlético de Madrid in the final. Champions League Circular.
