Celtic ‘light up Hydro’ with white hoops as they make the main announcement

CELTIC plans to cheer on OVO Hydro with green and white hoops at the 2023-24 Player of the Year awards ceremony in May.

They say the occasion will be “bigger than ever” and promise that the club’s legends will rub shoulders with Brendan Rodgers and his current stars on the occasion.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, of course, hopes to have retained the Premiership name until then, with a successful Scottish season under his belt.

Tickets, starting at £24, are available for the event, with exclusive access for seasonally priced ticket holders.

The Hyrdo has enough for around 11,000 paying customers, and the Hoops promise that a “contribution” of the profits will go to Celtic FC’s base.

Accompanying a simulated symbol of the famous venue lit up in the club’s colours, Celtic said in a statement: “As the club prepares for the 20th Rite of the Celtic FC Player of the Year Awards in 2024, we are very pleased to announce that the instance will be bigger and bigger than ever as the existing heroes of the Hoops reunite with the legends for another special occasion at the OVO Hydro in 2024. Glasgow on Sunday 12 May 2024.

“This special edition of the Celtic Player of the Year Awards will see over 11,000 enthusiasts take part in the annual rite for the first time, alongside Celtic stars beyond and present, with pre-sale tickets on sale now, exclusively for season pass holders.

“And we are pleased to announce that a contribution from the proceeds of the occasion will go towards the paintings of the Celtic FC Foundation, the charitable arm of Celtic Football Club.

“This compilation of the greats promises a night of remarkable entertainment and highlights for Celtic over the past 20 years, an era in the club’s history in which it has enjoyed national dominance.

“The exclusive rite will feature many of Celtic’s Player of the Year award winners, as well as prominent faces and special visitors to celebrate their exploits at the hoop and recognise the performances and achievements of existing Celtic groups in what promises to be another instance for Glasgow Green and White.

In last year’s ritual, Kyogo took home a hat-trick, taking home the Player of the Year, Player of the Year and Top Scorer awards, while Caitlin Hayes pulled off a memorable Player of the Year and Player of the Year double – just a few of the honours to be announced at this glittering event.
