Ajeti’s former Basel teammate Moi Elyounoussi has been persuaded to signal a moment of ons and down for a season to Celtic from Southampton.
Celtic announced the signing of Ajeti on their online page this afternoon.
He said: “Celtic Football Club is very happy to announce the signing of Swiss striker Albian Ajeti, who has joined the club on a four-year contract with West Ham United.
“The 23-year-old spent the season in the English Premiership, having spent the last two years at FC Basel in the Swiss Super League.
“While playing in The Swiss elite, the striker played with Hoops Loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi and was named the most sensible scorer in the Swiss Super League with 17 goals in the 2017/18 campaign.”
Hoops boss Neil Lennon added: “We are very happy to bring Albian to Celtic.
“I admire him for a long time because he is an intelligent, balanced footballer and a very wise finisher.
“We are very pleased to make him a Celtic player and hope he has a long and successful career with us.”

Ajeti was reluctant to sign for the Celts as part of a transitional agreement, but the option to make the permanent agreement proved very important to secure the move to the line.
With Celtic absent from domestic action for ten days, he will be eligible to debut in Tuesday’s First Round of Champions League qualifying against KR Reykjavik.

He developed his career in Basel before joining German club FC Augsburg in 2016.
Ajeti returned to Switzerland a year later with St. Gallen and his form of purpose earned him a return to FC Basel.
In Basel, he scored 43 goals in more games before joining the Hammers last summer for 8 million pounds.
Things didn’t go well at the London Stadium, where he didn’t start a solo championship match.
But after a non-public intervention through manager Neil Lennon, the switch to Parkhead represents a chance of tearing down fortunes.
The measure comes after Vakoun Bayo joined the French Ligue 2 team, Toulouse, on loan with the purchase.
