Celtic say they are “disappointed” with the outcome of Brendan Rodgers’ disciplinary action but will settle for the result after he was only banned for one match.
The Hoops brought the heavy artillery onto the field Thursday as they battled Rodgers’ two-game suspension after his scathing comments about Don Robertson and John Beaton’s decision-making in their loss to the Hearts. The legal eagle Nick De Marco, dubbed the “Lionel Messi of football law”, brought in to protect him.
And while Rodgers was still suspended, it was only one game, meaning he’ll miss this weekend’s matchup against Livingston before returning in the dupassut against the Rangers for the next game. A readout: “Obviously, we are disappointed with the final results of today’s hearing, although we will settle for the panel’s decision.
“The coach made the impression in court today and his defence was presented in a physically powerful and thorough manner. Like many other clubs, we will continue to push for the highest criteria to be implemented in the VAR procedure in Scottish football. “
