Celtic have been fined €17,500 (£15,248) after their supporters staged a pro-Palestinian protest ahead of last month’s Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, and the Scottish giants were fined €11,500 separately through UEFA for setting off fireworks and blocking passages.

The Green Brigade ultras organization defied the club’s calls not to display their Palestinian flag by waving flags and those ultras were subsequently suspended from taking part in matches at Celtic Park.

UEFA’s latest fine is €7,500 more than Olympiacos will have to pay for “racist behaviour” by fans in the Europa League win over West Ham United, according to the club’s latest UEFA disciplinary report.

It is now the third time this season that Celtic have been fined by the European governing body, with the total amount now standing at €75,900. Following a fireworks display in the defeat to Feyenoord, UEFA fined them €23,400 and the home defeat to Lazio resulted in a €23,500 fine for “attacking banners” and lighting fireworks.
