Celtic spark storm among their own fans after wishing Jewish supporters a Happy Hanukkah

Celtic has caused a typhoon among its own enthusiasts after wishing Jewish followers a satisfied hanukkah.

The official Facebook page for the club uploaded a multi-branched candelabra and Hoops logo with the message ‘To all our Celts celebrating, Happy #Hanukkah from everyone at #CelticFC.’

The “eight -day light festival” is celebrated through the Jews around the global and coincides with Christmas this year.

But the page was flooded with pro-Palestinian flags and comments within minutes of posting the message online.

He also included memes with a debatable song “From The River to the Sea”, which involves cleaning Israel from the map of the Middle East.

A section of the Celtic support, the Green Brigade, often wave Palestinian flags and were fined by UEFA during a Champions League match against Atletico Madrid last year.

Star winger, Israeli Lial Abada, left the club in March amid claims fans treated him ‘disgustingly’ after some showed support for Palestine in Israel’s war with Hamas.

Amer AlHwarat wrote: “I wonder how you celebrate while killing children and women in Gaza!”

Barry Fisher wrote: “It will have to be a configuration,” while Mark Leslie said: “The Green Brigade will not like this message. “

Lorenzo Capovani added: “Not in my name. “

But other fans appreciated the message which lives up to Celtic’s boast of being “a club for all.”

Anthony Martin Barrett said: “The level of Antisemitism here is off the charts, some people should be ashamed of themselves.”

Another said: “At Celtic FC, as a Jew who has supported Celtic all my life, I really appreciate those most welcome festive greetings. ” Hanukkah celebrated the gentleness and goodness of our world. I appreciate it.

Gennaro, the ideal leader added: “I am a Jew of Belgian and Israeli nationality, Celtic and I protect the Palestinian cause!

“Stop mixing everything: Zionism, nationalism, Judaism. “

Other fans didn’t take a side – but enjoyed the rammy nonetheless.

One of them said: “It is good to face some cages at that time of Mr. Admin. “

Celtic is at house opposed to Motherwell today.
