Stuart Kettlewell was “baffled” by Celtic’s second penalty and said an officiating seminar had highlighted why a similar scenario does not result in a penalty.
Motherwell was penalised for a pull on Mikey Johnston’s blouse through Calum Butcher in the 84th minute, which saw David Turnbull give them the lead.
Goalkeeper Liam Kelly saved a Luis Palma penalty in the 66th minute after Bevis Mugabi was judged for a foul on Oh.
Jon Obika equalised for Motherwell a few minutes after Turnbull’s goal, but the next penalty irritated Kettlewell.
And he says there may have been a case where Greg Taylor showed a red card following VAR intervention for a foul on Blair Spittal in 70 minutes that left the winger with a nasty cut on his leg.
Kettlewell said, “I have my opinion, like everybody else, but I think I’ve been consistent that if officials tell me anything, I’ll sit for two-and-a-half hours. “With general managers and one or two managers from all over the country, this express incident gave the impression in one of the clips.
“There have been conversations about whether the player is at the end, not every touch in the box is a penalty etc, and from the angle I have noticed that Calum Butcher is adamant about the fact that he is not pulling up his shirt, that his The palm rests around the waist.
“I said it and argued about this, but I understood that I would not be sanctioned; though, lo and behold, when [referee] Steven McLean walks up to the monitor, I think we all know what’s going on at this point.
“Everyone will have their own opinion on it, the Celtic guys will probably think it’s justified, but I think it’s incredibly sweet, really.
“Butcher gets stuck on the side, puts his hands on it, but at no point did he pull Johnston’s jersey and drag it to the ground.
“So I find it confusing, given the verbal exchange I’ve had with myself and other people in a room. That surprises me.
Kettlewell added: “I’m looking for Blair Spittal’s shin, halfway through his shin, he got a huge cut for a challenge from Greg Taylor, who I don’t think is a bad player, I think he’s a smart player. “Player: However, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.
“It’s a yellow card, other people think we’re crazy criticizing and saying ‘Maybe this one is worth watching?’
“I see that again, I think it’s bad, really, and it’s nothing opposite to Greg, we just call him what we see him.
“But we get lost in a lot of other things.
“Another aerial challenge from Mika Biereth where he has a cut on his head, he had 3 very serious ones in the last few weeks and we didn’t make any mistakes because of that.
“Paul McGinn has a steel plate on his cheek, on the back of one of them. Brodie Spencer is lucky not to suffer a concussion and Mika Biereth now has a cut on his head.
“You can understand why I’m so baffled by all this: there’s no coherence. “
