Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr scored twice as Real Madrid crushed Salzburg 5-1 to allay lingering fears of elimination from the Champions League.
The defending champions had lost 3 of their first six matches in the revamped festival and the night in 22nd place. But they showed their strength emphatically with two goals from Rodrygo in the first half, both assisted by Jude Bellingham, calming their nerves.
Kylian Mbappé added a third three minutes into the second half and two goals from Vinicius Jr gave Madrid the win before Mads Bidstrup scored a late consolation.

There were degrees of relief in Paris as PSG completed a stunning comeback to beat Manchester City and return to the playoff spots.
The hosts were trailing 2-0 thanks to goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland but Ousmane Dembele inspired a turnaround.
The former Barcelona winger reduced the delay and then Bradley Barcola made it 2-2 with all four goals scored in 10 frantic minutes.
PSG were not finished and Joao Neves headed in before Gonzalo Ramos made it 4-2 with the last shot of the match.
PSG have moved up to 22nd place, but City will have to beat Club Brugge at the Etihad next week to have a chance of completing 24th place.
