Several of the leading Europeans are following david Alaba’s stage at Bayern Munich closely.
The Austrian spent his career high on Bayern’s books and was, for many years, a key figure in his bottom line.
However, Alaba has lately had more than a year of contract with Bayern.
And despite the importance of the defence to the Bundesliga champions, negotiations on a new deal stalled last month, and Alaba’s agent asked Bayern to pay the 28-year-old 20 million euros a year.
About a month later, meanwhile, little seems to have changed.
According to the Telegraph, Alaba expects a contract that reflects his prestige as one of the world’s footballers.
Such problems in the negotiations have also put several European heavyweights on alert, and the Telegraph added:
Chelsea and Manchester City are among some of the most sensitive clubs who are watching if David Alaba is presenting a new contract at Bayern Munich.
Landing Alaba (presumably for something of reduced value depending on his contract situation) would be a massive blow to Manchester City or Chelsea, anyone who wants defensive reinforcements.
However, it should be noted that the Telegraph also claims that Bayern are “desperate” to maintain Alaba’s services, with the option of the Munich-based team allowing the defence to terminate their contract and let it go next year.

However, one player Chelsea didn’t need to sign is Nathan Ake.
The Dutchman spent six years in Chelsea’s books, before being permanently at Bournemouth in 2017.
Ake has continued to identify himself as a notable artist for the Cherries, but now he seems to be signing for Manchester City for around 41 million pounds.
And according to David Ornstein, while Chelsea’s termination clause gave them the first rejection of Ake, Frank Lampard liked the defender:
Chelsea will probably never return Ake. The repurchase clause gave #CFC the first rejection, but Lampard was not enthusiastic. Some interest from Man Utd and OGS told Ake in the area about #MUFC without a central defender. But it’s still Man City’s TheAthleticUK #MCFC #AFCB https://t.co/6bbaR6ZuXr
