Chelsea’s respective hopes of seeing a new goalkeeper arrive at the club in the short or long term have been cut off.
Of course, the main explanation for why Chelsea enthusiasts need to see a new face between the sticks at Stamford Bridge is the form of Kepa, who sets the record.
The Spaniard endured a terrible 2019/20 year, in which Frank Lampard lost his No. 1 in two separate spells during the season.
And, after resuming his initial duties against Brighton on Monday, unsurprisingly, the former Athletic Bilbao player made a questionable display.
Kepa’s inability to control his dominance and manage the centers was evident again, when he deserves to do much more with Leandro Trossard’s goal in the second half.

Despite some other questionable demonstration opposed to the Seagulls, Frank Lampard made a decision with Kepa after the game, stating that he was very happy with his number one:
“I’m very satisfied with Kepa. With the shot, I’m not sure I did better, but I saw a little more confidence in the way he played. Kepa’s here, he’s our doorman and I’m satisfied with him.
“If we compete, it will be competition. That’s the nature of Chelsea. It goes through the team, so let’s see. “
From the imminent reinforcements of the goalkeepers arriving at Chelsea, Lampard added:
“Not at the moment. There’s a few weeks before the market’s over.
“We also have a wonderful team now, so we have to manage that and see how we move forward to get the right festival point within the team, but there’s no news on it right now. “
These comments surprised Blue’s faithful, who had long awaited the arrival of Edouard Mendy.
The 28-year-old striker has enjoyed a very good 2019/20 with Rennes and has been very connected to Chelsea in recent times.
He even claimed last week that Mendy had reached a five-year deal with the Premier League giants, before another report warned that Rennes had accepted an offer from Chelsea.
Now, however, following Lampard’s comments, Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sport is confident that the two clubs have, in fact, reached an agreement for Mendy:
There’s still no agreement #Rennes and #Chelsea for Edward Mendy. The player is in a position and hoping to fly to London when he puts the soft green to do so, has signed a five-year contract with the CFC.
