Chelsea’s Premier League crusade ended with the Wolves on Sunday.
The Blues went into the clash knowing that one point would be enough to secure their prestige in the Champions League for another season.
But when the ultimate whistle blew at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard’s men went further.
A dull first part came to life in the last few minutes thanks to the brilliance of Mason Mount.
First, the young man threw a sensational loose kick to give Londoners the lead.
Then, a few minutes later, Mount Back participated, this time providing a deep ball to Olivier Giroud, who then took the score to 2-0, securing a key victory for Chelsea.
After the Wolves clash, Frank Lampard spoke in detail about the Chelsea star on Sunday.
Given his age and the fact that he had not reveled in the top flight in his credits before this season, Mason Mount had a fairly impressive 2019/20 campaign, which allowed him to score seven and six in 37 league games.
And when asked on Sunday what the long-term of his team’s mid-riser holds, Lampard then revealed his opinion that Mount is still capable of improving:
It will definitely get bigger because he’s very young and I think when a player comes in and plays in his breakthrough year and is constantly on the team, other people treat him as if they were older than them. He’s still young. You saw his strategy on the loose kick. It’s a special strategy, only the most productive players can hit the balls this way.
“His full game for the season is brilliant. His painting ethic and daily education are brilliant. So it’s going to be a lot better, and it’s contributed a lot and this is just the beginning for Mason at Chelsea.
