Chelsea have completed the signing of striker Mayra Ramirez from Levante and the Spanish club have confirmed that the Blues have paid a world record figure.
The deal is worth €450,000 up front with a further €50,000 available in bonuses.
The previous record deal in the women’s game saw Keira Walsh move from Manchester City to Barcelona in a deal worth up to £400,000 (€470,000) including bonuses.
Ramirez, 24, has 30 caps for Colombia and joins Chelsea after the loss of striker Sam Kerr to an ACL injury.
“I’m very honoured to be part of Chelsea,” Ramirez said on the club’s official website. “Being part of such a big club is a dream come true and I’ve lived it since I was a kid. “
The striker has scored 20 goals in 34 Liga F appearances for Levante and has five goals in her appearances.
