Chelsea FC and Man City Atlético José Giménez – Report

ESPN reports that Chelsea FC and Manchester City are watching Uruguayan foreigners as a possible option to bolster their respective defences this summer.

The same article indicates that Manchester City will point to a half-centre this summer to locate a long-term spouse for the Aymeric Laporte defence.

According to the same note, Giménez has a contract termination clause of 120 million euros that Atlético is not in a position to negotiate below.

The report adds that Premier League finalists are recruiting Giménez and Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake as two possible central half recruits.

ESPN goes on to claim that Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard is a fan of Uruguayan defence, strength and experience.

The same article states that Lampard believes Giménez would climb to the defence centre of west London.

Chelsea FC has been tracking the 25-year-old for “some time” and has sent scouts to monitor Atletico’s defense, according to the report.

Giménez has made 21 la Liga appearances and has played in 4 Champions League games in the existing crusade to play a key role for Diego Simeone this season.

The Uruguayan foreigner played for Atletico Madrid in Europe after moving to the Spanish capital of Danube in 2013.

Giménez has won the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and a two-time Champions League finalist.

Chelsea FC have already signed Ajax Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the summer window.

The Blues placed fourth in the Premier League season in Lampard’s first season at Stamford Bridge.
