Chelsea have made progress in signing teenage defender Pedro Lima from Brazilian club Sport Recife, the player’s agent confirms.
Les Bleus have reached a resolution through the young right-back and last month one of the South American national team’s directors showed that talks with interested parties had taken a stand.
Marcelo Barro said a club is “a little bit further ahead” in its pursuit of the 17-year-old, who has scored twice and provided as many assists in 25 senior appearances.
Lima has represented Brazil in the U17 category and may be the last South American youngster to move to Stamford Bridge.
“There has been progress in the negotiations, but they are still over,” agent Renato Guimaraes told Globo Esporte.
“The salary is fixed, but there are still some clauses to be explained in the contract, some bonuses. “
Chelsea have signed Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, Angelo and Kendry Paez as current owners and are also close to signing Estevao Willian.
The Palmeiras winger has been dubbed ‘Little Messi’ and has formed an exciting front line alongside Endrick, who is heading to Real Madrid, and West Ham target Luis Guilherme.
An initial deal worth £29. 5 million has been reached, but the final cost of the move could be as high as £51 million, making Willian the most beloved South American teenager of all time.
Chelsea are also said to have followed Endrick and are determined not to miss out on a more prodigious skill emerging from South American football.
The Blues have already signed their first signing of the Enzo Maresca era, with defender Tosin Adarabioyo signing a four-year contract following a loss to Fulham.
