Mauricio Pochettino believes he has set Chelsea up for a more potent future in their season unlike at Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine coach has a farewell message for the Stamford Bridge club, two weeks after leaving west London.
Chelsea unveiled Enzo Maresca as their new head coach on Monday, and Pochettino made his first public appearance since leaving Stamford Bridge.
Former Tottenham manager Pochettino has left Chelsea by mutual consent after 12 months of his two-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The 52-year-old led Chelsea to sixth place in the Premier League and Europa Conference League standings, 12th place for the Blues last season.
Tensions between the home owners and Chelsea’s sporting administrators eventually led to both sides agreeing to part ways, and now Pochettino has publicly said goodbye.
“I’m very happy with the point reached through the team and the way the players and staff have worked so hard to raise their standards, they deserve wonderful credit,” Pochettino said on social media. “We know there have been ups and downs. ” However, we always believed in this team and that we would reach a consistent point.
“I hope that the reports from this season and the great innovations we’ve seen will only make the players more powerful for the future. It has been exciting to work with all of them and we appreciate the strong bonds we have created. “in combination during the following year.
However, Pochettino will quickly return to Stamford Bridge, taking charge of the World XI in Sunday’s Soccer Aid match. The former Southampton manager has fulfilled his commitment to the charity match, despite his recent departure from Chelsea.
In a message to Chelsea and its fans, he reaffirmed his commitment to the Soccer Aid cause.
“To the owners, to the sporting directors, we appreciate the opportunity to return to the Premier League at this wonderful Chelsea club and for what you have given us and all the players, staff and fans, thank you,” Pochettino said.
“We sense what this football club is like for all of you and that’s why we’re working so hard to bring you a Chelsea you can be proud of.
“I need to wish everyone the best for next season and beyond. It’s wonderful that we’re lucky enough to be back at Stamford Bridge so soon with Soccer Aid, and I hope we get to see some of you there too.
