Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos joins sister club Strasbourg on loan

Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has arrived on loan at Strasbourg until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has completed his move after his disappointing loan spell at Nottingham Forest was cut short in January.

Santos sealed the deal while captaining Brazil’s U-23 team at the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament in Venezuela.

Chelsea signed Santos for £16m from Vasco da Gama in January but are yet to sign for the club.

Santos is the second Chelsea player after Angelo Gabriel to join the Alsace club on loan. Strasbourg are owned by BlueCo, Chelsea’s parent company run by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, as they build a multi-club model to rival the likes of Manchester City’s City Football Group.

Strasbourg is currently in tenth place in Ligue 1 under former Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira.
