LONDON (AP) – Chelsea Women signed with Denmark’s captain Pernille Harder of Wolfsburg, after paying what the German club said “record movement fees for the women’s match.”
Clubs did not disclose the prices of Tuesday’s deal, but the media says it’s around 300,000 euros ($355,000).
The 27-year-old lead had almost a year more contract at Wolfsburg and has signed a three-year contract with english champions, who will begin their Women’s Super League season at Manchester United on Sunday.
“I’m ahead of winning a lot of titles with Chelsea,” said Harder, who led Wolfsburg to 4 consecutive German Cup and league doubles.
Harder said winning the Champions League is his “absolute priority.”They were held without purpose in Wolfsburg’s 3–1 defeat to Lyon in the Champions League final on Sunday.
“Pernille is one of the most productive players in the world,” said Emma Hayes, manager of Chelsea Women.”This is a team that needs to take your game to the next level. She has selected Chlesea as a club that can boost her.She can play for any team in the world, but she chose us.
Wolfsburg director Ralf Kellermann said Harder approached the team a few weeks ago to propose the move.
“Given the fact that we are dealing with a record movement payment for women’s adjustment, without going into the exact nature of the sum in question, and that Pernille would only be with us for another 10 months and had just played in the For Us the final tournament of the UWCL, we thought it was a fair solution for all stakeholders” Kellermann said.
