Frank Lampard’s first season as a Chelsea manager was hailed as “very successful” through the club’s president before supporting him in a frenzy of summer expenses.

The former Blues midfielder has taken Chelsea to fourth place in the Premier League to secure Champions League football next season despite a ban on movement. Les Bleus also lost the FA Cup final to Arsenal.

“In the round, the season has been very successful,” President Bruce Buck said.”Clearly, we would have been a little happier if we had won the FA Cup.

“But I’m sure the coach and the players were very happy to lift the trophy.”

Chelsea have already signed German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Moroccan midfielder Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

And in an attempt to close the hole to the two most sensitive, Lampard now needs defensive reinforcements with a new goalkeeper, a left-back and a midfielder with Nick Pope, Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz on the shopping list.

“Frank Lampard is a very positive force for Chelsea,” Buck added.”It’s Chelsea from start to finish and that keeps showing off.”

“He has a lot of credibility. This is a time for Chelsea.”

However, Lampard’s first campaign divided the prospects of football enthusiasts after Chelsea moved from one position to the fourth, earning six fewer numbers than his predecessor Maurizio Sarri last season.

Former Chelsea sideliner Tony Cascarino questioned Lampard’s paintings with his team, saying they were easy to beat.

“I don’t know who trains Chelsea players, they’re messy!”cascarino told talkSPORT.” Defensively, they’re a general disaster.

“They have quality, they have players of global elegance on their team and some of the teenagers in the world – there are a lot of strings in Frank Lampard’s bow.”

“But if he fails to combine this defensive team and make Chelsea much harder to beat, they may do nothing.”
