Raheem Sterling could face suspension after he appeared to throw an object into the Tottenham crowd in Chelsea’s 4-1 win on Monday night.

The Football Association (FA) is investigating footage posted on Chelsea’s own TikTok account, which showed an object hitting Cole Palmer in the leg after equalising a penalty.

As the players walked away to resume play, Sterling gave the impression of ducking to pick up and throw the object into the crowd before rejoining his teammates.

The incident has not been detected by the government but is recently being reviewed if action is to be taken.

Tottenham striker Richarlison had been sanctioned in the past for an attack for returning a flare to the crowd after scoring for his former club Everton against Chelsea in May 2022.

Didier Drogba was also suspended for 3 matches in 2008 after tossing a coin at Burnley fans following a defeat in the Carabao Cup.

Sterling excelled in Chelsea’s win and scored the second goal, which broke through a Spurs back nine.

Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off in a moody derby in which Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick.

Chelsea will face Sterling’s former club Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, although any sanctions would likely come after the international break.

The Blues will face Newcastle at St James’ Park on November 25, before facing Brighton at home and some other holidays against Manchester United.
