NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Chelsea are reportedly considering a solution for Crysencio Summerville ahead of a potential layoff sale from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.
Second-tier Leeds are believed to want to raise almost £100m in player sales if they fail to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.
Leeds finished the league’s regular season with 90 problems, the highest problems ever recorded in a team that was not automatically promoted from the division.
Daniel Farke finished third to level a championship play-off semi-final against Norwich, and their first leg in Norfolk ended in a 0-0 draw.
The two clubs meet at Elland Road tonight (Thursday 16 May) for the second leg, with Leeds needing to get a win at Wembley.
If Leeds beat Norwich, they will face either Southampton or West Brom in the league play-off final on May 26, with a Premier League position up for grabs.
If Leeds fail in their attempt to get back on the more sensible flight at first request, there will be a liquidation sale to the club due to concerns over money rules.
This is reported by the Daily Mail, which reports that Summerville would be the maximum chance of departure.
Chelsea are tracking Summerville ahead of a possible move but are facing festivals from Liverpool, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
Summerville was named Championship Player of the Season last month and reportedly it’s not easy to win more than £30 million.
The 22-year-old Dutch winger has scored 19 goals and provided assists in 43 league games this season.
“I’m at a different point than I was before,” Summerville said after being crowned Championship Player of the Season.
“When we went down, I thought I would stay at Leeds and help the team get back to where it belonged and I’m pleased to be able to help the team with my assists and goals. The league is very complicated and very tough. I still enjoy it because I like matches.
