LONDON – Chelsea have signed England left-back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City to a five-year contract, the Premier League announced on Wednesday.
The main financial points of the deal were revealed, but the British media reported that Chelsea had paid 50 million pounds ($66 million) for the 23-year-old.
Chilwell has played 99 league games for Leicester in years at the club.
“I am very happy to sign for Chelsea at this exciting time for the club,” Chilwell told the London club’s website.
“I look forward to being part of this young and dynamic team led by Frank Lampard as we challenge honors next season. “

Chilwell is Chelsea’s third main enemy in the new season following the arrival of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech from RB Leipzig and Ajax Amsterdam respectively.
They have also teamed up with the offensive midfielder Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen while Frank Lampard tries to get his team to fight for the Premier League title.
Chelsea finished fourth last season to qualify for the Champions League in Lampard’s first quest as coach. They start the new season against Brighton Hove.
