Chelsea star Renato Veiga ‘AGREES to join Dortmund’ just six months into eight-year contract amid Blues frustrations

CHELSEA ace Renato Veiga has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window.

Veiga, 21, joined the Blues in July from Basel but has only managed 18 appearances across all competitions – a mere seven of which were in the Premier League.

The flexible defender has put on paper in a contract until 2031 with the option of making larger for an extra year when it arrives at Stamford Bridge last summer.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, however, the Portugal international is pushing for a new challenge just six months after his move to West London as he agreed personal terms with Dortmund.

However, Chelsea are yet to give the soft green for Veiga to leave after receiving a loan offered by BVB.

This follows reports suggesting that the Premier League giants are interested in discussing a permanent deal.

According to Sky journalist Patrick Berger, Portuguese AS needs to move because he prefers to play as a central defender and the Bundesliga giants are in a position to give him this opportunity.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon player has mainly played at full-back under Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

In fact, Maresca turns out to prefer the central defensive duo of Tosin Adarabioyo and Levi Colwill this season.

And the Italian tactician’s potential options have paid off, as the Blues have enjoyed plenty of good luck this season in domestic and European competitions.
