NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Chelsea and Australia superstar Sam Kerr called a police officer a “stupid white PC” amid an argument over the value of a taxi, according to new reports.
Kerr, one of the biggest names in women’s football, was accused this week of racist harassment following an alleged incident that occurred in January 2023.
The 30-year-old, who helped Chelsea win four Women’s Super League titles, insulted PC Lovell of Twickenham Metropolitan Police.
That’s according to reports about the alleged incident, in which Kerr pleads guilty and will stand trial next year.
They report that Kerr, who will return to court to try to have the case dismissed, was allegedly involved in a war of words over the price of the taxi when she uttered the racial slur and was then delivered in poor health to the back of the vehicle after a night of drinking.
The Matildas star, who is Australia’s most no-nonsense foreign goalscorer of all time, reportedly failed to inform Football Australia of his allegation, leading to confusion between chief executive James Johnson and boss Tony Gustavsson.
“We’re going to get to the bottom of this right now,” Football Australia leader Johnson told reporters in Adelaide.
“We have our own questions and we’d like to know [the answers], we want to know what happened.
“But we must also say that there is a procedure going on in the UK and that procedure wishes to run its course. “
Gustavsson, for his part, added: “Obviously, [I] was surprised. I can be very transparent that [this week] is the first time I’ve heard about it. “
