Chelsea: Tosin Adarabioyo’s role Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling in Enzo Maresca’s first signing

Tosin Adarabioyo has revealed that he sought the recommendation of Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling before deciding to sign for Chelsea.

It was officially announced on Friday that the former Manchester City defender would sign for Stamford Bridge on July 1 after his contract with Fulham expired, becoming the first new signing of the Enzo Maresca era.

At first, Adarabioyo appeared to be on his way to Newcastle after deciding to leave Craven Cottage after four years, with Manchester United also connected to his facility before Chelsea decisively rushed to stay in west London.

The 26-year-old already knows several members of the Blues’ first team very well, having played with Palmer and Sterling at City in the past, as well as Willy Caballero, the former Chelsea goalkeeper who is now returning to Stamford Bridge. as Maresca’s assistant.

Adarabioyo says he spoke to Palmer and Sterling before opting for Chelsea, and that their rave reviews were clearly a key factor in the move.

“I spent two or three years with Raz [Sterling] and Willy, and I spent most of my youth adventure with Cole,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

“Before confirming the move, I called Raz and Cole and they still had nothing to say about the club and the project, and how excited they were for me to come to the club.

“Cole is younger than me, but I met him when he was younger, along with some of the other guys I met along the way, like Ben Chilwell. Chilly and I were captains in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup. I also know Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja because he played for Fulham.

Adarabioyo plays a role at Chelsea as a replacement for the legendary Thiago Silva and Maresca’s first signing, who he is incredibly excited to play with.

“I can’t wait to start racing with Enzo and I’m sure the boys are too,” he said.

“It’s going to be exciting. We will play smart football and win a lot of games. There are some very sensible players in this team and I’m looking forward to betting on all of them.
