Wigan Warriors v Huddersfield Giants: Luke Robinson hopes the season is over for the Giants
Former Leeds United man, new favorite for new managerial role, Barnsley move target on the future
Lampard revealed that the referees’ bosses had told Chelsea that the Blues had been penaltyd for Harry Maguire’s challenge to César Azpilicueta in the Premier League tie against Manchester United.
Chelsea have asked pro fit officers (PGMOL) to check that the Blues did not receive a penalty for Maguire’s challenge, and Lampard revealed that the answer was that they were awarded a kick.
Chelsea lost at Old Trafford, but gained merit on Wednesday when Dalbert briefly sent off the handball reserve, conceding a penalty moment when the Blues beat Rennes 3-0 in the Champions League.
The Champions League continues to use the debatable handball rule that has since been revised in the Premier League, allowing Chelsea to get a penalty that would have been imposed on a national action.
All this confusion has left the Blues manager, Lampard, calling for a broader and more streamlined approach.
“The one who recently opposed Manchester United for us, who are going to oppose us, have asked him about the reasons for this decision,” said Lampard, whose team is currently receiving Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.
“We were told it was a penalty; the VAR soon reviewed it. And that’s going to be countered to us, and maybe it probably caused us to lose two issues on the day.
“So with VAR and sophisticated differences, we want to make sure the VAR is there for a reason, to make the right decisions, in retrospect and over time, for everyone on an equivalent playing field.
”It was just one who confronted us there, and in the middle of the week we had one that helped us, but it had a big effect on the game.
“I think the handball rule we’ve adjusted in the Premier League, which doesn’t seem to have been adjusted in the Champions League and FIFA, is a rule that I think is universally slay by whoever plays, watches or supports football.
“I can’t handle him in the middle of the week even though we’re penalized and red card, because I don’t think that’s fair.
“I think it wants to be seen in Europe from the point of view of how we move forward.
“This one is in our favor, and I think it’s vital to be open and right about it, I discussed it after the game. “
Chelsea will receive the Blades with Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga back in shape after a shoulder problem.
Mendy, a foreigner from Senegal, is expected to continue with the gloves, but Les Bleus will have to do without Christian Pulisic again.
The U. S. striker suffered a ham-back tendon in the warm-up and came out of Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League win at Burnley.
The 22-year-old had returned to education earlier this week, however, the Blues boss Lampard admitted that Chelsea still had to solve Pulisic’s problem.
When asked if Pulisic would oppose the Blades, Lampard replied, “No, it has no compatibility to play; still suffers from the hamstrings.
“He’s not educated right now. He trained at a low point in the middle of the week, but he wasn’t comfortable, so we had to stay to find the right solution.
“Kepa has recovered, he still feels a little pain because he’s on the team. “
Kai Havertz missed Wednesday’s 3-0 Champions League win over Rennes after the positive for Covid-19 and will also miss the weekend league match.
