Chelsea were excluded from Carney Chukwuemeka, “who leaves as Borussia Dortmund enter the race for the January clash”

BORUSSIA DORTMUND have reportedly entered the race to sign Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka.

Chukwuemeka, 21, was left out of Chelsea’s squad for their 5-0 win over Morecambe yesterday and has been left out of every Premier League matchday squad this season.

The midfielder, who joined from Aston Villa in a deal worth around £20m in 2022, has only featured five times across the Carabao Cup and the Conference League this term.

His lack of Mins is to push him near the door to leave while Sky Germany informs that Chukwueka is now expected to “leave” this month.

It’s claimed that German giants Borussia Dortmund are amongst those clubs interested with boss Nuri Sahin understood to be a huge fan.

Dortmund awaits in midfield in the January window and can negotiate a loan resolution for Chukwuemeka to fill the void.

The chief of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca, opened the door so that Youth International England also leaves, which suggests that it would be served to move in minutes.

Speaking ahead of the yesterday’s Morecambe clash, Marescsa said: “Carney won’t be included [in the squad to face Morecambe].

“More or less, the resolution is like [Ben] Chilwell and [Cesare] Casadei, Chilwell and Carney, they’re the same situation.

“This is all I said at the beginning that Carney is a player. But we have so many midfielders that he will locate with us.

“Probably for him, the solution is to pass and get minutes. He will not worry in our game. “

Maresca also confirmed that Chelsea have not had any approach from Dortmund over a move for Chukwuemeka yet.

Regarding incoming players, Chelsea intends to have defensive reinforcements.

The Blues have been linked with a return for former centre-back Marc Guehi, who they sold to Crystal Palace back in 2021.
