Chelsea will compete with Arsenal for Benjamin Sesko by triggering a £56m release clause.

Chelsea are keen to sign Benjamin Sesko and are confident they can compete with Arsenal for the RB Leipzig star if they move forward with their plans to sign a striker this summer.

Sesko is the subject of great interest after a season in the Bundesliga and Chelsea and Arsenal are in a position to sign the 21-year-old RB Leipzig hitman.

His £56m release clause increases the chances of a significant move to the Premier League.

While Arsenal may be looking to reduce those fees as part of a potential deal with Leipzig, Chelsea could be keen to generate that release clause.

Arsenal are believed to have been encouraged to have early merit in Sesko’s offer, but that won’t deter Chelsea if their interest increases.

Chelsea have been following Victor Osimhen for some time, but at this level they are keen to shell out the more than £100m that would be needed to sign him from Napoli.

The Blues have also long been interested in Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, but look set to make a move for the 19-year-old this summer.

Nicolas Jackson finished a combined first season at Chelsea with 14 Premier League titles and any newcomers would rival him at Stamford Bridge next season.

The confirmation of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea’s new head coach on Monday will allow the Blues to move forward with all summer preparations.

Maresca described his time at Stamford Bridge as a “dream” and the Italian will get down to work as he looks to get Chelsea back into the top four.

Maresca will officially start operating on July 1 but the Chelsea squad has already analysed their summer holidays in Marbella.

Chelsea Maresca is the forward-thinking coach who can become the long-term boss they’ve dreamed of since they bought the club in May 2022.

The former Manchester City Under-23 manager and Pep Guardiola’s deputy manager has signed a five-year contract, although the club will retain a further 12-month contract.

Chelsea would already be very happy to work with Maresca, who is the Blues’ fourth permanent manager in two years.
