Chelsea’s new signing Omari Kellyman has said he needs a vital player for the club and “one of the faces of the stadium”.
Kellyman was officially announced as a Chelsea player on Saturday, signing a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge following his £19million move to Aston Villa.
The 18-year-old becomes Chelsea’s newest signing following the arrival of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, while Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are set to complete their move to West London.
Kellyman arrived at Villa two years ago from the Derby academy, where he spent ten years, but excelled with Villa in Premier League 2, where he played 21 games, scored ten goals and provided two assists.
Unai Emery obviously liked what he saw in the attacking midfielder and Kellyman had a chance with the first team, making six appearances in all competitions, adding two in the Premier League.
The teenager is the newest of several talented teenagers who have signed up for the club in the last two years, however, Kellyman revealed that seeing young players break into the first team was a delight to sign up for Chelsea.
“He’s a great charm for me,” Chelsea’s online website said.
“I’ve noticed young players coming into the team and playing week in and week out in the Premier League and I feel like I’ll take my chance when it comes along. “
Kellyman obviously lacks confidence and believes in his talent and revealed that he has big goals for his time at the club.
“I need to succeed in the Chelsea shirt, win games and trophies,” he added.
“With time I hope to become one of the faces of the stadium. I need a wonderful player for this club.
