Chelsea’s new signing, Timo Werner, has trouble with liverpool and Manchester City reprimand

Timo Werner believes his Chelsea team is in a position to step up and challenge Liverpool and Manchester City by the Premier League name this season.

The 24-year-old came to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig this summer with a reputation as a scorer, having scored 95 times in 159 appearances for his former club.

The German also got off to a good start in the chelsea preseason, scoring just five minutes after his first friendly appearance against Brighton last week and feels everything is going well at his new club.

The Blues also signed Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell before the new season, and Kai Havertz must follow before the start of the campaign.

Chelsea finished fourth last season in Lampard’s first season and Werner hopes to take advantage of that with the new look and believes a name challenge is realistic.

“The frames with the coach have been very smart recently,” Werner told Chelsea’s official website.”He showed and explained to the team in general, not just me, what we can do in the area and how to do it last season.

“It has been wonderful to paint with him and has talked about his long-term plans and how we should fight with groups like Man City and Liverpool.

“I think Chelsea is a wonderful club and with this team we have, I think we can succeed on a new level.

“We have some very smart players here and the coach is there to show us the way and help us improve. We’ve been working tactical things, as well as our strength and fitness, to make sure we’re in a position for the start of the season.»

Werner is expected to make his Premier League debut when Chelsea arrives in Brighton on Monday 14 September for their first season match, in a 1–1 on Saturday friendly.

After this impressive show in the weekend friendly, Lampard was very happy with Werner’s performance.

“I think Timo was cheerful and bright,” the Chelsea coach said.”He achieved his purpose very early in the game, he showed some of the qualities that I know very well, so I’m very excited to have him on the team.”.

“I think his paint speed and everything in it is a wonderful start for him.”
