Tottenham Hotspur hosted representatives from the NFL’s Chicago Bears for an exclusive consultation for girls on Project Huddle to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Club legends Ledley King and Jenna Schillaci joined Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds for the session, which was held at Duke’s Aldridge Academy, adjacent to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Project Huddle is a program jointly funded through Tottenham Hotspur, the NFL and Nike, implemented through the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, to offer sporting activities and employment opportunities in the region.
With an investment of £1 million over three years, the project offers a dual play programme for children and women aged between 11 and 18, combining football and NFL FLAG, as well as wellbeing activities to help in the lives of young people in the area. community.
Twenty women from the field attended the consultation, which included a series of activities related to the NFL flag, as well as football activation stations. King, Schillaci and Edmunds participated in the consultation and presented recommendations to participants through their own experience as professional athletes. .
Jenna Schillaci said, “Programs like Project Huddle are key to transforming the lives of local communities, giving them access to free and available sports. They tell you a lot about team sports, I’ve done that and that shapes the user I am today. It’s only fair that each and every young user in the country has the opportunity to fall in love with a sport. “
Andre Thomas, project co-ordinator at the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “Young people see Huddle’s task as a position where they can let their personalities fly. This allows them to take advantage of the many opportunities this program has to offer.
“The club envisioned that building the stadium would result in improved dominance and the Huddle assignment is a wonderful example of working with partners like the NFL and Nike to gain advantages from our community. “
