Martinez to Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has already got Nathan Ake from Bournemouth for 41 million pounds ($75 million), now points to the long-term successor to City’s most sensible goalscorer of all time, Sergio Aguero.

And The Sun lines Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez as Manchester’s new number nine.

Inter signed Martinez from Racing Club in his local Argentina for 20 million pounds two years, before slapping him with a massive clause widely disclosed at 111 million euros (A$182 million).

The termination clause will expire on July 7, and the Sun reported that its existing termination clause is now fixed at 81 million pounds (A$148 million).

Barcelona was thought to be the maximum touchdown point for the Argentine, meaning he would be connected to his compatriot Lionel Messi, but that agreement was governed by the president of Barcelona, Josep Bartomeu.

Bartomeu said this week: “We are in talks for Lautaro Martínez right now, we have stopped negotiations with Inter at the end of June. We’ll see what happens.”

Chelsea moves to Chilwell

Frank Lampard’s window of busy and very successful moves is expected to continue with left-back Ben Chilwell near an agreement to sign for Leicester.

Sky Sports reports that an agreement will be signed “early next week”.

Left-back Emerson Palmieri can leave Stamford Bridge to make way for England international, and Sky Sports is one of many linking him to a return home to Italy with Inter Milan.

Lampard has already got Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, and is expected to sign Kai Havertz of Bayer Leverkusen.

Arsenal Captain’s Contract Index

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s long career is the Gunners’ biggest fear in the new season.

Aubameyang has been in talks with him about a new long-term contract for many months, and the new deal is expected to generate around 250,000 euros a week for 3 seasons.

But the captain surprised the enthusiasts when he hinted that the club had not taken him a step forward in the negotiations of the agreement.

During a live Instagram session, Aubameyang said, “Everyone shows the pencil and paper (emoji), but I still don’t have the bruv papers!”

But he temporarily gave the enthusiasts much more explanation for why they had hope, when the discussion ended with: “Have a smart night, enjoy and smart news for everyone.”
