The ACC is shaping up to be one of the most exciting meetings in school football for the 2024 season.
While the convention realignment grabs the headlines, there are plenty of buzz surrounding the close race for the ACC championship. The Big Ten and the SEC have more potent lists with recent moves, but the ACC promises excitement and fierce competition.
Many questions will be asked at the CAC this year. Is the state of Florida the new power? Can Clemson regain its throne? Will Miami surprise everyone and win the convention title? These stories set the bar for an incredible season.
With the end of ACC Media Days, we look to delve into Clemson’s 2024 schedule and the difficulty of the game for the Tigers. The format is simple: Clemson’s entire schedule is indexed by week. Each indexed game has an overall score on a 1/10 scale for difficulty and a schedule score.
With that said, below is Clemson’s 2024 schedule and standings.
Week 1
Date: August 31, 2024
Qualify in time: No. 1
Difficulty level: 10/10
It doesn’t get any harder than that. Probably the number one Georgia Bulldogs in an unbiased location in Atlanta, Georgia (pretty unbiased). . . This will be a challenge for the Tigers. As Swinney says, it’s never easy.
Week 2, at home
Date: September 7, 2024
Ranking over time: No. 8
Difficulty level: 5/10
I saw this classified as a cheat game, and maybe you can understand why. After a war against Georgia, you can’t let App State catch up to you. This adjustment will not be a challenge for the Tigers.
Week 4, at home
Date: September 21, 2024
Deadline Ranking: No. 3
Difficulty level: 9/10
NC State is shaping up to be a very tough opponent for the Tigers in 2024. They crashed into the movement portal and at one point had their quarterback on the move, Grayson McCall. A smart home game for the Tigers.
Week 5, at home
Date: September 28, 2024
Qualify in time: No. 11
Difficulty level: 2/10
Clemson has no problem defeating Stanford. There is a large gap in skill and training skill between the two programs.
Week 6, outside

Rank on time: No. 2
Difficulty level: 10/10
The road to Tallahassee between the Tigers and their more sensible contender for the ACC Championship will be really tough. While I think Clemson is the bigger team, it hasn’t been through much and it’s a hostile environment.
Week 7, Out

On-time ranking: No. 9
Difficulty level: 4/10
I have very few Demon Deacons heading into the 2024 season. Dave Clawson is a wonderful coach, but this team obviously looks like a bottom-of-the-table ACC team.
Week 8, at home

Ranked on time: No. 10
Difficulty level: 3/10
Tony Elliott will return to Clemson, but it may not be fair to him. Virginia has struggled a lot in recent seasons and that may not replace Clemson.
Week 10, at home
Date: November 2, 2024
Rank on time: No. 6
Difficulty level: 7/10
This could be ranked higher, but I’ll leave it here for now. Clemson is 8-0 against the Cardinals since joining the ACC, and a home game is in the Tigers’ favor.
Week 11, Out
Date: November 9, 2024
Ranked on time: No. 4
Difficulty level: 8/10
I feel better about the Hokies than most of the national media heading into this season. Their quarterback, Kyron Drones, is my number one Heisman dark horse, and the Tigers head into other hostile environments for a high-profile ACC game with ease. There’s a chance the Hokies are a one-loss team, perhaps undefeated at this point.

Difficulty level: 6/10
I don’t agree with Pitt starting this season, but it may not be easy on the road and in front of one of the most productive head coaches in the ACC. Clemson shouldn’t have any upheaval here, but he wants to show up.
Week 13, at home

Ranking in time: No. 12
Difficulty level: 1/10
There is not much to say about this one. Swinney says it best: It’s wonderful for other systems across the state.
Week 14, at home

Deadline Ranking: No. 5
Difficulty level: 8/10
Clemson is the biggest team heading into the season and owns the field. I would rank this decrease in terms of difficulty, however, it is a rivalry week and the Tigers have not been as dominant as before against the Gamecocks.
