Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence tested positive for COVID-19, and wondered if the face of school football will be the one that will have to play the most important game of the Tigers season.
Clemson’s coach, Dabo Swinney, said in a statement through school Thursday night that Lawrence was away with mild symptoms.
Swinney said Lawrence would miss Clemson’s game Saturday in front of Boston College. The Tigers are scheduled to play Notre Dame No. in South Bend, Indiana, on November 7.
People who test positive for COVID-19 are isolated for at least 10 days.
Lawrence said on Twitter that his symptoms were “relatively mild” and that he was following Clemson and CCA’s protocol regarding the virus.
“What hurts is not having a chance to be with my teammates this weekend and play the game I love,” he said.
Lawrence would monitor and inspire the Tigers to be isolated.
Georgia’s young man is one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy and potentially the top picks in next year’s NFL draft.
