DENTON, Texas (AP) – Clint Bowen will leave North Texas after just one season as defensive coordinator, a resolution coach Seth Littrell said was a mutual resolution.
Departure Friday from North Texas Bowen.
Mean Green finished 4-6 this season and last at the American Conference with 522 total yards and nearly 43 game-consistent issues. They lost 56-28 to Appalachian State at the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
“Clint and I had discussions and in combination that the most productive resolution for everyone involved was to separate,” Littrell said. “It was a difficult season for everyone to sail, and it was no other in our case. I think Coach Bowen is a very smart coach, but sometimes, for a variety of reasons, things don’t go as you expected. “
Bowen finished his one-year term in North Texas, also serving as defensive coordinator in 2011 before returning to Kansas. He was in Kansas’ assistant former coach from 2001 to 2009 and from 2012 to 19, and in 2014 had a 1-7 record as interim head coach of the Jayhawks after Charlie Weis’ firing.
