Early Monday, there was a wave of enthusiasm on social media when Sport Bild claimed that Bayer Leverkusen “soon” could settle for a hundred million euro package from Chelsea by Kai Havertz.
All very definitive, the point of sale explaining that you would pay 80 million euros in advance, with two packs of 10 million bonuses to follow, one more readily available than the other.
However, all this has been vehemently denied through Bayer Leverkusen, to Sport1 in Germany.
He explains that “there will be no conclusion” on Monday to the Havertz saga, and the German-looking sporting director has called his star player’s impending departure “nonsense.”
Sport1 reminds its readers that Rudi Vuller has “repeatedly no Corona discount” for Havertz, the Bundesliga club “demanding at least one hundred million euros of compensation” for the midfielder.
They end up saying ‘there’s no end in sight’ and the deal ‘is still in the bag’.
There is also no “predictable” deadline for “transfer completion”.
Turns out Chelsea enthusiasts would probably have to wait a little longer.
