Cody Latimer released through the Washington team; Currently on the list of exemptions

The Washington team announced Sunday that it has released catcher Cody Latimer.

As ESPN’s John Keim pointed out, Latimer has been on the commissioner’s waiver since July, facing 8 fees from an arrest on May 16.

The police report alleges that Latimer fired a gun in a poker game. He is scheduled to appear in court on 10 September.

Latimer enters his freshman year with Washington after joining the team as a loose agent in March.

The 2014 second-round recruit had four years off with the Denver Broncos before signing with the New York Giants, where he has become a more consistent component of the offense.

He finished 2019 with 24 receptions for three hundred yards, the most of his career, and added two touchdowns. He also played 10 games with the Giants after scoring only five starts in his first five seasons combined.

Latimer may have only provided Washington with intensity and reveled as a player shown in a different way, the body of young receivers led through second-year player Terry McLaurin.

The team added Dontrelle Inman earlier this month, potentially fulfilling Latimer’s original role while now placing the receiver on the list with more than 3 years of NFL experience.
