Cologne and Schalke win the first numbers of the season in the Bundesliga

BERLIN (AP) – Ondrej Duda scored to save a 1-1 draw in Cologne against Eintracht Frankfurt and earned his first Bundesliga point of the season on Sunday.

The Colony had started with three consecutive losses and was heading for some other defeat when André Silva changed a penalty in favour of the visitors in the first half. Sebastian Bornauw sanctioned through the VAR for an obvious foul on Daichi Kamada.

But Duda tied opposite the race in the 52nd minute, firing from a central position after Kingsley Ehizibue hit him with an exact center.

The draw denied Frankfurt the chance to sign for Leipzig with 10 problems in the most sensible of the standings and allowed Cologne to pass a point over Mainz without winning.

1st POINT OF SCHALKE

Schalke also won their first bundesliga point this season. He fell from the back of the standings but failed to finish his 20-game win record after a 1–1 draw with Union Berlin.

Schalke’s host thanked goalkeeper Frederik Runnow for keeping Union at bay until Christopher Trimmel stopped by Marvin Friedrich to lead the first game in the 55th minute.

Schalke’s Gonoalo Paciancia arrived a minute later and tied at 69 with a headbutt on the first suit after a corner of Omar Mascarell.

“It looks like we gave up two points,” Luthe said.

SUPERIOR FAMILY

Leipzig leads by a point over protective champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, giving the board a familiar look after only 4 rounds.

On Saturday, Leipzig won 2-0 in Augsburg, Bayern beat ascended Arminia Bielefeld 4–1 and Dortmund beat Hoffenheim 1-0.
