One of the league’s adjustments to operations for the 2020 season is the expansion of 16-player groups so that groups have more bodies available while playing through the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the only replacement for the team’s education regulations this year. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media says there is also a replacement in the way some players can move from one side of the active list to the other.
Players who test positive for COVID-19 will be removed from the active list until they have medical permission to return. Teams can announce a player from the practice team and then send them back to the assistants list without going through exemptions. According to the same rules above, players will have to make transparent waivers before they can re-sign on the education team.
Replacement creates more flexibility for chart control in a season that groups deserve to do more than in typical circumstances.
Smart…. they should also eliminate teams from pulling players from other teams practice squads this year too…. if a team need a specific skill position player than their own practice squad currently has, they should be forced to look to the FA MARKET to help correct for the players that got cut early to fill that void when they changed from 90 to 80 players…..
